Toad Hall Nursery

Toad Hall Nursery Watford opened in 1999 and has now been established for over 10 years.  The setting recently expanded the facilities in order to meet the high demand for places and now holds a total of 90 children.

The nursery consists of a large detached house with 2 separate annexes.  There is a small annex where the younger babies are cared for. This offers a more contained unit with a separate room for the babies to sleep. The larger annex allows free flow into the garden for children 2 years and above.

In the nursery’s recent Ofsted inspection Inspectors described the overall effectiveness of the nursery as “Good”.

The report states “staff plan play experiences and activities around children’s interests and meet the developmental needs of individual children. Consequently, children are motivated in their play, have a positive attitude to learning and are making excellent progress towards their early learning goals”.

” The staff team are clearly focused on helping all children make good progress in their learning and development and in fully promoting children’s welfare”.

It adds “arrangements in place for safeguarding children are robust” and. particular praise was given to the partnerships established with parents.
The nursery operates five days a week, offering both morning and afternoon sessions from 7.30 – 18.30 hours for 51 weeks a year. We close on bank holidays and for a week between Christmas and New Year.
There are currently 26 full time staff employed at the nursery of these over 75% are qualified and those who aren't are working towards an Early Years qualification.
The nursery holds the Hertfordshire Quality Standards Award
