CHILDRENS LEARNING:
We set out to assist all children attending to attain their maximum potential within their perceived capabilities.
Activities are based on Birth to 3 and the Early Learning Goals.
Birth to 3 Matters
Birth to 3 matters a national standard which creates a framework that supports children in their earliest years by
identifying four aspects which celebrate the skill and competence of babies and young children and highlights the connections between
growth, learning development and the environment in which children are cared for and educated.
The four aspects are:
- A Strong Child
- A Skilful Communicator
- A Competent Learner
- A Healthy Child
Early Learning Goals
We incorporate the 'Stepping Stones' of achievement found in the DFES Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation
Stage which are related to the Early Learning Goals. Guidance covers the six aspects which are:
- Creative Development
- Communication, Language, Literacy and Writing
- Mathematics
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Physical Development
An individual record of children's development is maintained, showing their abilities, progress rate and areas
needing further staff assistance. Each room leader shall prepare aims, activities and discussion topics at least for
four rolling weeks in advance. The children's records will be updated regularly and be available for the parents to view.
Observations of individual children, groups of children and activities take place on a regular basis and activities are evaluated to
ensure they meet individual and group objectives.
The staff are very aware of the importance of the correct play environment for the child, so they may develop good social skills and an
appreciation of all aspects of this country's multicultural society. The planning of the learning experience by the staff is further designed to ensure
, as far as possible. Equal opportunity between all children.
