Our staff plan a varied range of educational activities to ensure that your child makes the most of every day with us. Toad Hall’s EYFS nursery settings provide your child with a rich learning environment indoors and out.
The EYFS learning journey
The EYFS curriculum is fully implemented within Toad Hall Nursery Group and as a company, we tend to go above and beyond the required EYFS standards!
As an EYFS nursery, all of our branches and childcare settings must follow the EYFS framework and it is against this that we are inspected. There are seven EYFS areas of learning and development which are taken into consideration:
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Physical Development
- Communication and language
- Understanding the world
- Expressive arts and design
We recognise that children are unique individuals who learn and develop at different times and in different ways. We encourage their holistic development by spending time getting to know them and building on what they can do, helping them to reach their full potential. Our staff will plan activities for your child to enjoy on their own or with other children both indoors and outdoors. For more information read our Parents’ guide to the EYFS framework.
Learning and development through fun
As we know from our own experiences, children learn best through play. We want to ensure that your child experiences the very best in childcare and is supported to develop and learn throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage.
We want the children in our care to be sociable and to have high self-esteem, to enjoy books and stories, to learn about numbers and how to solve problems.
Development through EYFS activities
At each nursery, we want children to develop physically, to enjoy painting, drawing and to learn about the world around them. Our staff plan activities for your child to enjoy on their own or with other children both indoors and outdoors. Through our Toad Hall Language Programme we place considerable importance on developing children’s early language skills through games, songs and stories.
As part of the EYFS physical development programme, we promote physical activity on a regular basis through our own Let’s get Physical programme where we encourage at least 60 minutes of high, physical activity a day. Mostly this is in the well-resourced outdoor areas but where possible we also build in music and movement in the indoor environment. Learn more about physical development in children.
Our little ones are taught empathy skills and how to challenge discrimination. Each EYFS nursery uses Persona Dolls which are used in conjunction with story telling to address difficult issues such as racism, sexism, disability and homophobia.
