These combine practical training in a job with study. With childcare apprenticeships you’ll:

- study towards an early years qualification, with at least 8 hours per week paid study time
An Early Years Apprenticeship takes 1 to 2 years to complete depending on the level. This has an equivalent education level:
- Intermediate – equivalent to 5 GCSE passes
- Advanced – equivalent to 2 A level passes
- Higher – can lead to NVQ Level 4 and above, or a foundation degree
You can apply for nursery apprenticeships while you’re still at school. You’ll need to be:
- 16 or over
- living in England
- not in full-time education
Toad Hall apprentices study with Hawk Training and are allocated a personal tutor for the duration of their course, along with support from experienced colleagues. Click here for more details on childcare apprenticeships from Hawk Training.
Change to requirements for Level 3 Early Years Educators
It was announced on 3 March 2017 that the Government is scrapping the Level 3 requirement of having to hold GCSEs above grade C in Maths and English for Early Years Educators. The new Level 3 qualification requirements will come into force from 3 April 2017.
Our apprentices are valuable members of the team and have access to the same early years training and development opportunities as all Toad Hall staff members. We are also proud to say that nearly everyone who has completed their apprenticeship with us has chosen to stay with Toad Hall as a permanent member of staff.
In 2016, Toad Hall was a Finalist in the CIPD People Management Awards in the ‘Best Apprenticeship Scheme’ category, which demonstrates our commitment to people development and our apprenticeship scheme.
Every year, Toad Hall take part in National Apprenticeship Week to celebrate the outstanding work that our apprentices do. Find out what we got up to during National Apprenticeship Week in 2016 and National Apprenticeship Week 2015.
National Apprenticeship Week 2017
We are thrilled that Chloe Snowball, one of our apprentices at our Felcott Road, Walton-on-Thames nursery, has been invited to No 10 Downing Street on 10th March 2017, to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2017. We’ll keep you posted on how that visit went, along with our other activities that we will be doing to support this brilliant initiative!
