During the summer, Felcott Road nursery entered the Nursery Group Poddely competition. Jo Blank, the ‘Let’s Get Physical’ trainer and author for the group, had the pleasure of judging the entries. There were three entries, Felcott Road (Walton), Glover House (Hitchin) and Horley.
It was a close run thing! All the entries were imaginative and showed creativity from both children and adults. There were excellent examples of high quality, imaginative play, with good links with learning across the curriculum so the children’s enjoyment and involvement was clearly evident!
The winer was…
FELCOTT ROAD NURSERY!
Felcott Road just had the edge, creating a rich imaginative play experience. With an excellent mix of the Poddely with the natural world to create the jungle camp, it looks like they had some really imaginative ideas and stories going on.
WELL DONE TO YOU ALL!
Nursery Group of the year
Toad Hall Nursery Group have been shortlisted for by NMT Nursery Group of the Year. Ruth Pimentel, Chief Executive, met the panel to make them realise just how brilliant the nursery group is. We will know the outcome on Saturday 30th November at the NMT awards. During the evening we will all be supporting Lorraine, our nursery cook from Horley nursery who reached the final of the Nursery Chef awards. Fingers crossed!
Last week the rainbow children were introduced to woodwork and really enjoyed the experience with the support of Ivy’s Daddy. If you have any skills and would like to help children to explore and develop new ideas for the future please get in touch.
The Nursery will be closed from Wednesday 25th December up to and including Wednesday 1st January and will re-open on Thursday 2nd January 2014.
Please could you inform us if your child attends another setting or childminder so that we are able to promote effective communication between all parties and further support continuity in learning?
Every child’s a talker – Talk about the picture in your child’s favourite book
In the first five years of your child’s life, they will learn more about speaking and a far greater number of words than at any other time. There are simple activity ideas that can fit into everyday life and will help your child’s communication skills and prepare them in their readiness, so please talk about the picture in your child’s favourite book.
What’s the title?
In the November issue of the nursery November Newsletter you will find an illustration from a children’s book. Can you and your child name the title of the book and author?
Draw a favourite character from a book
There are three categories: Under 2’s, 2-3’s and 3-5 Years. Please name the book and character and in your own words tell us why it is your favourite character.
Closing date for the drawing competition is Friday 22nd November.
