At Toad Hall we pride ourselves on providing high quality childcare and early years education across all of our nurseries. We understand that recruiting excellent staff is critical to ensure that our high standards are maintained. We are proud to prioritize staff training in childcare and our apprenticeship scheme is a fantastic way to develop young people and install a life-long passion for high quality childcare provision.
To mark National Apprenticeship Week 2016 took the opportunity to highlight Toad Hall’s commitment to apprenticeships and celebrate the valuable contribution that our apprentices make to our nurseries. You can read about our activities here.
About Toad Hall’s apprenticeship opportunities
Toad Hall is proud to run a fantastic apprenticeship programme, providing practical staff training in childcare alongside experienced staff with the chance to study towards an early years qualification. Our apprentices can earn a wage, develop job skills and feel part of a friendly and dedicated team. Toad Hall’s childcare apprentices are highly valued and our apprenticeships are a great way to encourage young people to consider a career in childcare. Toad Hall are delighted that nearly everyone who completes an apprenticeship decides to stay on at Toad Hall as a permanent member of the team.
How Toad Hall celebrated National Apprenticeship Week 2016
Toad Hall marked National Apprenticeship Week 2016 by pledging to recruit more childcare apprentices with a target of 20 apprentices by March 2017. Toad Hall also showcased the excellent partnerships between staff and apprentices with talks at local colleges; Watford Nursery’s manager and apprentices gave a joint talk on Thursday 17th March at Francis Combe School to encourage more young people to get involved. Richard Harrington MP visited Watford Nursery on Friday 18th March to meet the apprentices and find out more about their excellent contribution.
Woking Nursery held a “Made by Apprentices’ day on Monday 14th March. They invited apprentices and mentors to run their favourite activity with the children and explain how to recreate these activities at home. They will also produce a Parent Brochure with examples of activities that are “Made by Apprentices”.
The benefits that apprentices bring to Toad Hall’s nurseries
Toad Hall’s childcare apprentices are highly valued. They bring in lots of new, fresh ideas and they are full of energy. The children at Toad Hall love to see new faces and enjoy taking part in different activities. For our more experienced staff at Toad Hall, being able to develop childcare apprentices is a hugely rewarding part of their job. Staff training in childcare is a core part of our success and our experienced staff value the opportunity to pass on their knowledge and experience to our apprentices.
