Toad Hall Wishbone Way Nursery in Woking celebrated the first anniversary of its re-opening on 18th November after being destroyed in a devastating arson attack at the end of 2012.
The nursery’s 1st birthday party was not just an opportunity to celebrate – it was also a chance to thank everyone who so generously gave their support to help Wishbone Way towards this important milestone. It would not have been possible without the support of local fire-fighters, police, Woking Borough Council and of course our wonderful parents and staff! A huge thank you to everyone involved for making it such a memorable event.
The party included a fancy dress competition, music and a birthday tea and was presided over by Tony Branagan, who opened the Nursey as local Mayor in November 2014. Local radio station Eagle Radio also covered the event on their website.
Wishbone Way is aiming to be better than ever before and since re-opening, like other Toad Hall nurseries, it has successfully introduced key initiatives such as The Early Language programme, Let’s Get Physical programme, Cook and Grow programme and Magical Maths programme – all of which are designed to give the children the best possible preparation for school.
Katrina Omotoso, the Nursery Manager, had this to say about her experience of the last 12 months, “Opening a new nursery has been an amazing experience, especially when we have had such solid support from the community. It’s been a whirlwind of activity since we opened in November 2014. We have opened all 6 of our rooms and this has been due to the recommendations from our parents and support from the local community. I feel excited to see what the next year has in store as we move along this journey.”
Katrina continued “It’s an exciting milestone to reach our first birthday, and the nursery is going from strength to strength. It’s a great time to reflect on the support we’ve received from the local community and what’s been achieved to bring this nursery back to where it was before the fire. Moving forward there are lots of exciting plans afoot to ensure that we engage the local community and provide an excellent childcare and learning facility for all the local families.”
