Our Toad Hall Colmworth Nursery celebrated its first Birthday in style this week! The children had a fun-filled day with a guest visit from our very own ‘Toad’ mascot topping off the celebrations.
Everyone joined in with traditional party games, a birthday tea and a fancy dress competition and local Mayor Dave Hodgeson even popped in to say hello. It was also a great opportunity to thank our staff for the way they have managed the transition of the nursery to the Toad Hall group, and providing an outstanding nursery to all our families throughout Bedfordshire and St Neots.
During the last 12 months the Toad Hall group, which prides itself on delivering quality care, education and nutrition for children, has made some incredible achievements. In June 2015 Toad Hall received the Silver Food for Life Catering Mark, from the Soil Association, for providing nutritious meals, prepared with fresh, organic, locally sourced and farm assured produce for each of our children.
It’s a great testament to the quality of the food at the Toad Hall Group that Colmworth was the first nursery in Bedfordshire to have its healthy and nutritious menus approved by the Children’s Food Trust.
Emma Parker, Nursery Manager at Toad Hall Colmworth, said, “Nutrition is really important to us and we reinforce this with our children and families through our ‘Cook and Grow’ initiative. We involve all of our children and families in growing a range of fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers in our allotment, which is then prepared and cooked by our children. In summer 2015 we achieved Level 3 in the RHS School Gardening Awards, for our allotment and dedication to educating children about the natural world.
“In addition to this we were lucky enough to win an award at the Nursery World Awards, as Charlotte Eavis Wix, Regional Operations Manager of Colmworth Toad Hall, won an award for Regional Operations Manager of the year 2015!”
Our CEO Ruth Pimentel also joined the party and said, “The birthday party was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate an important milestone for the Colmworth Nursery and extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff, parents and community for all their support. As I am sure you can see, we have a lot to celebrate!”
